Welcome
Andrea Hewes was born in Norfolk and spent her early and teenage years living in England and Western Australia. In the mid 1970’s she did a Foundation Art Course at Oxford Polytechnic, and in 1981 followed this with a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design at Middlesex Polytechnic.
"My work is inspired by studies of nature, here in the UK, as well as from Western Australia, where I grew up and Belize, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Kenya, where I have also lived.
I work in many different mediums, but am also enjoying screenprinting and working with clay; throwing pots and also printing on to porcelain and paperclay."
Her parallel career as an artist and graphic designer fuel each other. For over 20 years she was responsible for producing graphics for RPS environmental consultancy, using a wide range of computer software. She has produced numerous illustrations, plans, Powerpoint slide presentations, brochures and exhibition materials for clients such as MoD, Highway Agency, Defra, and a variety of businesses and organisations.
Now freelance, she revels in working with clients, using fine art within the context of graphic design, to provide accessibility and appeal to bring the work of the client to life.
